Agreed. The Genesis was hurt by the CD/32X failures, and the SNES was relying on fat processing chips, but both could have definitely squeezed out a bit more if people weren't so gung ho about full 3D. Even sadder considering most early 3D games haven't aged the best compared to their hand drawn 16 bit counterparts.

Don't even get me started on the 32X. I fucking love that thing and it had some great games. Tempo, Knuckles Chaotix, Metal Head, Virtua Fighter, Kolibri, hell, even Star Wars Arcade was fun. All kinds of untapped potential.
