of course republicans don't want anything done to curb domestic terrorism, that would mean

-possibility of decreased gun sales (think of the economy!)
-possibility of right-wing media not being allowed to spread violent hateful rhetoric such as the whole "white replacement" bullshit, which might lead to less fervor from audiences, lower viewership numbers, and again, less money flowing through right-wing interests
-possibility of less actual incidents of domestic terrorism, which republicans don't want, because every time an incident like this happens they use it as a further excuse to go "this isn't the time to talk about gun control. libruls are gonna want to use this incident as an excuse to take away your guns. don't let them!"
