I'd rather indigenous people don't get mocked at all for their spiritual beliefs. I've met a ton over the years from South America who have come to the US to spread awareness because their societies are being literally murdered by industrial interests to seize their land for logging and/or development. A ton of shamans are being exploited right now by "New Age spiritual tourists" who travel to participate in traditional ceremonies with no respect for the culture.

Besides which, this sounds totally mundane. Getting whisked with branches happens regularly during Finnish sauna, for example. People don't tend to mock that. But since it's an old indigenous woman, who is graciously allowing outsiders to take part in a sacred ceremony, now we're holding back collective laughter?

Hopefully this is just a troll topic and the TC didn't actually do this, because it's beyond rude.
