That'd be cool... but I am worried if they ever will make one. SMM is the one Nintendo franchise from Wii U to Switch that didn't completely obliterate the other in sales. Sure, 7 mil is good, but you got others quadrupling/tripling/more their sales, and SMM2 hasn't even doubled the Wii U SMM in sales.

Considering NSMBU sold nearly 6 mil on the Wii U and NSMBU Deluxe sold probably 13 mil at this point; I feel like Nintendo sees the money in just making their own 2D Mario games (especially with how much cheaper it probably is to just make a New Soup game, put it out and call it a day compared to having to make continuous updates and keeping the online database alive for SMM2).

I'm just disappointed myself that SMM2 didn't just skyrocket in sales; I guess people just don't want to deal with the hassle of level creation/unfocused gameplay.

With how long it's been since the original 3D DK, and how clunky that one was, it'd be cool to see them give it another go (would the studio be in-house or 3rd party like Rare, though)? Of course, the one thing I looove about 3D Mario is each one feels extremely different in terms of mechanics (outside of direct sequels like Galaxy 2 of course). I think it'd be in DK's best interest to try the same.

Have you played Kirby Forgotten Land yet?

Nah, I should, but I haven't. I've never been a Kirby guy, but was hyped for this game. I just thought it was going to be a lot more open than it ended up being (nothing against linear gameplay, though, I love 3D World).

On top of that, I'm a Mario fanboy.
