I bought a home at 24 (10 years ago) only because my mother died and left me around 50k with instructions saying that unless something urgent came up to use it for getting a house. Ended up buying a decent house for 120k and have updated it a couple times over the years. House down the street that i would like to think is pretty similar in all respects to mine sold for 360k earlier this year. I could not afford one today if i didn't already have one.
