To be clear on the Supreme Court, Republicans were able to pack it because they had the simple majority in the Senate when Scalia died and when Ginsburg died. Trump was president and Mitch controlled the Senate with a Republican majority at an exceptionally favorable time which can't be replicated unless you can find a way to induce early death in a few of the older SC judges right now.

Republicans also had the majority when Kennedy retired and could replace him with a younger conservative judge, but the same kind of thing goes for Biden replacing Breyers' more recent seat with the younger judge Jackson. The important takeaway is how powerful the executive branch's ability to nominate SC judges is, and in 2016 and even 2020 I think this was consistently understated by disillusioned voters who weren't understanding how monumental Trump winning the election could be
