Even by Xenosaga standards it barely makes sense, it ties up hanging plot threads in very uninteresting ways (while still ignoring a lot of them), and a lot of the new stuff it introduces is just. Completely stupid. It also has a lot of character anti-development, with Shion just being completely irredeemable as the most obvious example.
