Yeah, you can't see the moment where his demeanor changes but the last shot you see of them is Smith smiling and Jada clearly not happy with the joke, then Smith goes up on stage seconds later. Could be he wasn't really grasping what Rock was saying or it just took him an extra moment that didn't get caught on camera. So in those few moments it registered and/or he looked over at Jada's face and got up.
