Most of Lovecraft's stories are devoid of his trademark racism, so it's easy to separate them from his views. It certainly helps that he's long dead and his works are public domain.

J.K. Rowling's stories are mostly separate from her shitty views on trans people as well. But, since buying them supports her, it's a lot more murky.

On the otherhand, Ayn Rand's fiction is just a vessel for objectivism. You can't separate the art from the artist because they're one and the same.

Woody Allen's works fall somewhere between Rand and Rowling. But, unlike Rand, he might still get royalties.

It's a complicated subject where the answer is dependent on complex factors and personal ethics. This also hasn't dealt with the concept of an author commenting on their own work, which was an original goal of "death of the author."
