The faux pseudo government that would be installed by Russia would be a puppet government subjecting the Ukrainian people to a set of rules that none of them agreed to, it's slavery in everything but name. Enslaved to a new system of rules, taxes, enforcement, laws, etc that you have no say in, no power over, subject to the whims of a murderous dictator that has no care for you or your people.

They're fighting for their right to self-determination.
