That being said Blomkamp is amazing at what he does and I wish they would let him do that Alien movie he wants to do. He's easily the best vfx artist in the game and it isn't even close.

Honestly, yeah, his visual style and his creativity with weapons and sci-fi tech in general is fucking awesome. When he focuses on badass future-tech action, he does it like few others can even dream of--the problem is that after District 9, he ran out of good story ideas and started making generic social commentary tripe with the occasional awesome action scene.
