Okay so first off, I know this sounds crazy and irrational to most of you. And it honestly, it kind of is. This is by far my biggest purchase to date as a collector. I'm a huge watchnerd, it's basically a hardcore passion of mine (some of you might have seen some of my posts before). Since around 2014 I've put together quite a decent collection of watches I really enjoy, prices for my cheaper pieces start as low as $60 (and they all get wrist time!). While some of you might think I can just throw money around, for what it's worth, that's definitely not true. I've been saving for this particular watch since I put my name down on the waiting list a day after the announcement in 2019. No dealers are even putting names down anymore because the demand is through the roof - for this reason, many of this particular model have even sold in excess of double the retail price on the secondary market.

Anyway, about the watch. It's a Patek Philippe Calatrava ref.5212A. Patek Philippe is considered one of the most high end Swiss watch brands (prices for their entry level stuff is around $20k, I know, insane), and has extremely traditional designs. You might have noticed the font looks like it was written by hand, and that's because it was, which is a first for the brand, as is the weekly calendar (hence the 1-53 on the dial) - with a brand new movement for it. It has a day, date, week/month complication, a beautifully decorated automatic movement in a stainless steel case and a brown calf strap.

What do you think? Opinions really differ on this one, but with this unique watch, that's hardly a surprise.

What do you do if you trip and break the watch
