Like they were conditioned by all those 360-only releases to just keep buying stuff on consoles I thinkafter the pool of major console shmups dried up post-360, pc kind of became the default at least in terms of releases (it got the most ports of said 360 stuff at least)... i never really considered if it actually had the largest playerbase though. with the doujin shmup scene also having largely disappeared in recent times it could well be that the bulk of the community well and truly is with switch and (to a lesser extent) ps4 now. idk, i personally default to steam (or more so drm free/physical pc) releases over switch where applicable but don't expect that to apply to everyone, i just got influenced by the pc doujin side so shrug in any case though i doubt even in the most ideal scenario that it competes with babylon's fall which has been slowly increasing in player counts somehow ...
