I never call anyone but friends at work by their first name, and I like to be treated the same way. I consider being overly informal a little disrespectful.

I've also noticed that, left to my own devices, I use the first name more often with female subordinates than with male subordinates, and in different situations. So to avoid any appearance of favoritism I use Mr/Ms./Title last name almost always. Title last name in writing, of course.

Interesting.

I've been in the workforce for 28 years now, and there isn't a single person that I've addressed as "Mr." or "Miss/Ms./Mrs." at any job I've had.

Everyone, from the people that owned the company I worked for at 16 all the way to the bosses I currently work for have been introduced to me using their first names.
