who dat

Drummer/songwriter for one of the most influential punk bands of all time, Husker Du. Two of their albums, Zen Arcade(an 80 minute, 23 song concept album), and New Day Rising are usually ranked on lists of best punk albums ever, and I like them a lot.

To show their influence: billy joe of green day and dave grohl(talking about nirvana) have said their bands wouldnt exist without husker du. It could be said the grunge explosion and grunge itself never attains the heights it did without husker du, but thats just my own speculation.

If you feel like listening to some new music, I would try those two albums out. "New Day Rising" is a more straightforward punk/power pop album, which I would rec first, then if you like it, check out zen arcade, a punk album that throws in the bathroom sink. Blistering hardcore, tender moments, acoustic guitar, piano, a psychadelic track with the tune of "i want candy" copied, and a 17 minute free jazz outro. The song "Turn on the News" (written by Grant Hart) was included in the rock and roll hall of fames list of songs that shaped rock and roll.
