| Topic | Why isn't there a TV show or movie on Steel? |
| Skye Reynolds 09/11/17 9:47:21 PM #8: | The real answer is that the Shaq movie more or less killed off the character. I think that's a little unfair. Especially now, Steel could be ultra valuable to Warner Bros. He wears a suit of armor, which makes him a counterpart to Iron Man. But he's not a knockoff of Iron Man as he's a tribute to Superman. It's self-referential rather than copying the competition. Also, he has a big hammer. And that's sort of like Thor without directly trying to be. You get a couple of subliminal reminders of the Marvel style without really copying them. Plus, you get a bit of diversity without it being a lame shoehorn job like Cyborg. There's no reason for him to be there except to fill a quota. There's nothing you could write for him that would make sense for him to be there. Steel makes sense in that he's the guy who has to step up to the plate and be the Man of Steel when Superman's not around. ... Copied to Clipboard! |
