The article says the activists want more information on the case, probably their ages. In NH felony charges can and have trumped juvenile culpability for people as young as 14.

So? They don't make the decision as to whether or not they'll be charged with a felony as an adult until they've gathered the evidence during the course of the investigation. That means that, until evidence is gathered and the prosecution decides they want to charge these kids as an adult, the police cannot give out that info.


My guess is they believed the police chief was trying to bury the story, now its in the public eye.
