Mid and late 50s, and yes they're going batshit insane.

My dad is a typical Trump supporter who just learned how to use social media so his mind is getting the full assault of garbage information and political "discussion" without the intuitive filter most young people have for that kind of thing and it's making him react the worst way possible. He's gone full blown "us vs. them, if you're not with us you're against us" and he thinks I'm with the hardcore left just because I criticize Trump for his most obvious criticisms, despite CE attesting that I'm far from that, lol. He's always been a huge racist and xenophobe but the paranoia has been ratcheted up to 11. He'll see a service van stop in the neighborhood with black people coming out of it and say "keep an eye on them, he might pull a gun on us". He's 100% convinced "the race war is coming!" and that white people should constantly be on their guard in the case of random terror attacks from minorities. Not even exaggerating. These are word for word beliefs he lives by. He is an actual caricature.

My mom is sadly going the way of her mother and very slowly slipping into what seems to be dementia. She's mentally declining and often seems to be in a fog, and often has these little superstitions coming out of nowhere. She also has to live with a hardcore narcissist so that's taking its toll on her as well, molding her into an extremely passive-aggressive person with an obsessive attention to any minor failure of her adversar- I mean "husband".
