That's because Hispanic is not a race, it's a cultural grouping term that applies to anyone from a Spanish speaking country so, even people from Spain who are White Europeans are Hispanic. Hispanics come in all races and colors and Zimmerman is a White man. If you look at any census or race paper, they will have Hispanic or Latino options asking what kind they are and most will have Black and White Hispanic there.

I live in Massachusetts and most of our Hispanic community are from the Caribbean and Central America, with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans being the dominant Latino groups. They come anywhere from stereotypically African dark to stereotypically western European pale and every hair and eye color type there is with a wide array of facial phenotypes. Many are also very clearly mixed White and Black Hispanics too.

Also in their countries they have races system that includes Black and White and if you watch Latin TV, they pick the Whitest people of their populations for nearly everything. I have a friend from DR that has a Mediterranean European look with olive skin, dark eyes, and black hair, and he explained the race system in Dominican Republic. In DR he is considered a blonde White man legally despite those features of his. Look it up.

Plus in some of them, someone considered a "stereotypical" looking Hispanic would be considered White in their country and there's even many cases of people there that aren't considered Black being considered Black once they come here and I have a number of friends from Panama and Honduras that has happened to.
