It's a fact that there's never been a woman president. It's a fact that women have been oppressed historically. It's a fact that not that long ago women couldn't even vote or become senators. It's significant then that she was a woman, and it would have been obtuse to ignore that. All of these things have significant political merit and pointing them out or using them as a part of your strategy is not sexism.
