You can be blunt without being a jerk. I think the jerk part came from having to have the conversation multiple times. I approached it with ease before the best I could and each time I get stressed because it's unfair I have to feel like the jerk. If she wants to be fat and happy she should just say so. That way I can decide what's important to me. Maybe I can be happy with her being fat or maybe I can't but I would like to know where she stands on the subject.
