Topic	Why is the acronym for PS1 called PSX?

I thought the original was called the PS, the second version that was smaller is called the PSOne, and the PSX was some failed console that never left Japan.... in the time when the ps1 was the only playstation, people called it psx. there was even a psx magazine. they didn't actually SAY "pee es ex". people said outloud playstation. but when typing it, it was psx.
