In the manga, Mikami survives the warehouse long enough to go to prison, just to die ten days later. Matsuda actually suspects that Near was responsible, but Matsuda's ramblings aside, the actual cause of Mikami's demise isn't made clear. In the anime, pretty sure he just went crazy/ier and killed himself because he couldn't handle being rejected by his "God".
