Snopes' "fact checking" consists of picking out parts of a news story to disprove, ignoring the parts that actually lead to the claim, then declaring the whole thing "false." For one (very relevant) example:
Their excuse was basically "CNN said it wasn't true, so it wasn't," then they ignored evidence of people handing out signs and flowers right next to the "protest" site:
That directly disproves CNN and Snopes' claim that the protest was already going on and they just happened to be there.
Also, the owner embezzled almost $100,000 to divorce his wife, marry a hooker, and pay for the honeymoon. The site had to start a GoFundMe to try to cover their legal costs.
