Why is it that Manga has "chapters" & not issues? Is it wrong for me to call em issues?

Tankoubons mostly.

In Japan, manga "chapters/issues" are released in large serialization magazines alongside other manga titles.

After enough chapters/issues have been released they are collected and organized into a single volume book, aka tankoubon. And thus, those individual releases become actual "chapters" in a book.

Also, when talking about "issues" in regards to manga, people refer to the actual magazines themselves, like Shonen JUMP or Bessatsu Margaret, as "issues" i.e. This week's issue of JUMP has... or Monthly Champion's issue reveals...!, in order to avoid confusion.

Also also, and this is just a personal thing, whenever someone refers to "issues" of a comic, I always default to western comics in my head.
