It isn't about necessity or prior knowledge of how it all ends. Hell, literally everyone knows how stories like Titanic or Der Undergang end. It's about money and tacked on stories in order to facilitate making more of it. It's about someone wanting to share their creation with the world and people demanding more even though the story that needed telling, was told. It's about the creator's heart not being in it and it rarely delivers a good story.
Prequel to 300, anyone?
Now that isn't always the case, but the number of terrible prequels and sequels because of fan demand and $$$ far exceed the good ones.

Where on earth are you getting that their heart isn't in it? And don't give me the "well everyone else" line. Where are you getting that other than your ass?

I'm getting my opinion from plenty of prior experiences and even admitted that it isn't always the case. You seem to be the rabid sphincter magician here, buddy. Going on about others being close minded, yet immediately agitated when presented with a different opinion.
