A lot in here didn't even bother watching the video. It wasn't "over school supplies." It was to stop two people from felonious assaulting her daughter "over school supplies."
And she escalated the situation by pulling out a gun which made a situation that was not life threatening into a life or death scenario. Guess she has a CCW but doesn't carry with one in the chamber, and if the other party saw her pull a gun, and they are also carrying, they can start blasting away as it's now a lethal encounter. She'll be sitting there with her gun that doesn't shoot. If you're going to pull out your gun, it better be able to fire because your life is in danger and you need to put someone down.
The situation was already escalated enough. Her pulling the gun is easily justifiable in a court of law as she feared for her daughter's life. Her daughter was being attacked by two people that were not stopping despite efforts from a good samaritan.
And no, they would NOT be justified in pulling their gun seeing as they are the aggressors in a felonious assault to begin with.
It's not a dark alley, with some 6ft thug grabbing your daughter by the throat. It's freaking Walmart with dozens of bystanders, dozens of witnesses and hair pulling, there's not going to be any neck snapping, hidden shanks, or MMA moves that will cause brain damage. She pulled out her gun which was not ready to fire to scare the other party into stopping, she probably had no intention to shoot as she did not rack a round and that's what escalates it into a situation beyond a cat fight in Walmart for some notebook.
