I'm not mad that he was emotional.... That could actually work. But he tells Light that he knows he's Kira exactly halfway through the movie with no plan of what he's going to do to catch him, or any plan in place to protect himself or Watari from whatever Kira can do. Then, because they've done no safeguards to protect Watari despite having a decent idea of what Kira needs to kill someone, Light predictably just goes after Watari.... and L gets mad like Light just stole his lunch money or something. Like of course Light killed Watari, did you forget this guy is a mass murderer?

Then L spends the second half of the movie practically in a haze of hate accomplishing nothing. The fact that he even searches the room at the end and finds a page doesn't make much sense... they just did it to set up the final scene they wanted of L potentially writing Light's name down.

If at any point it felt like Light had outwitted L to get ahold of Watari, or L had a plan in place to outwit Light that maybe didn't go well, this all could have been fine.... but there's none of that. This all just happens for no reason.

Also, I think if Watari had been killed in the anime a while before L got killed, L would have been pretty emotional about it. You can hear the falter in L's voice when he realizes somethings happened to Watari there.... but then he dies right after too. I doubt he woulda gone on a rampage like this movie L but he woulda made it personal for sure.
