You're saying Ariel should be beloved not because of what she is as a character, but because of the role she played in Disney's revival as a company. I could easily say that it was a dramatic shift in Disney's art style, plus a real focus on making musicals, that made TLM successful. Ariel just happened to be the lead character of that movie. And no, you're not allowed to handwave a bizarre hatred of Mulan when literally the only word that doesn't describe BELLE in that last description is "action". --- Touch fuzzy. Get fuzzier.
