Historically, Catholicism was more of an urban immigrant religion in the US. Irish, Italian, and Polish Catholic immigrants all concentrated themselves in enclaves inside major urban centers. There's still remnants of this, but now a major part of the American Catholic population is Hispanic, who have tended to vote Democrat, though not to the degree black people do. --- ...
