| eston 08/28/17 4:59:33 PM #37: | Titled the "Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Long-Term Care Facility Residents Bill of Rights," the new law would allow transgender individuals living in care facilities like nursing homes to use bathrooms in line with their preferred gender (not necessarily their biological gender), and would punish any caregiver who "knowingly" uses the wrong gender pronoun to refer to one of their patients. Sounds reasonable to me. It's not like they're talking about fining random people on the street who may or may not know someone is transgender. A caregiver should definitely know better, and the nature of their interactions with patients puts them in a unique position to emotionally abuse people. --- ... Copied to Clipboard! |
