I put games in the same category as written work (books, comics, manga, etc).

You've got your pulp, dime a dozen novels, your decent works, your literature, and everything inbetween and around it.

Video games are exactly the same.

I'd say visual art is the same as well, just that very, very few people have been able to tap into the pulp fiction level very well, and that the form itself tends to be more full of itself.
