Preathorization happens once the label is created, which was probably the night before. That's a preauthorization, not a charge. The charge posts in 3-5 days when Amazon clears it. With a credit card, only your credit limit decreases till it posts. With a debit card, funds are removed immediately. At places like Best Buy, they do a preauthorization at order placement. Same thing happens and then in 3-5 days, those funds are released. Amazon also does do preauthorizations right at order placement now with some really limited or big ticket items. --- It all just disappears, doesn't it?
