I am far from a climate expert, but given that a mild cold snap could change the temperature by that much for 15 days, I think you're overblowing this.


Considering the temperature dropped by 5-6 degrees in the totality areas during the recent eclipse, I think we'd seem much more significant decreases than that. I have no idea if it would actually be an extinction event, but I have to imagine it would be pretty catastrophic for a lot of the world.
