You're less likely to compare yourself to the other person and you'll be less nervous. At the very least you two will have your awkwardness in common. Honestly as an awkward person interacting with other awkward people is fucking awful. A social person encourages me to open up more. With an awkward person I need to carry the conversation on my spineless back. Meeting awkward people helps me practice being conversational.
