| iiicon 08/20/17 6:36:17 PM #21: | Yeah it sounds like PC indie games are for you. There are a bunch of great Metroidvanias out there at the moment, and the great thing is that there's a real diversity in what each game focuses on. Ori and the Blind Forest or Guacamelee focus more on platforming, Rain World on exploration, Axiom Verge is a Metroid homage, AM2R is quite literally a Metroid 2 fan remake (and the dude who made it is now working on the next Ori game!), Dust focuses on the combat, Dead Souls is Castlevania reimagined as a roguelike, Hollow Knight and Momodora are more modern takes on IGA games, and La-Mulana is heavy on the puzzles. It's an embarrassment of riches. Japanese companies are getting pretty good at releasing their games on Steam now. The best of the bunch is Trails in the Sky/Trails of Cold Steel, which have dense worldbuilding in addition to a heavy character focus.
