They said a lot of things that made sense about unity and history, but then also they touched on Nathan Bedford Forrest being a civil rights leader because of some speech. One of the Representatives thanked him for his bravery to speak up, then she immediately reminded him about how Forrest slaughtered a town's worth of unarmed black soldiers. That left her with a bit of bitterness that's hard to replace with a speech. The awkwardness was pretty strong. Isn't that who Forrest Gump was named after?
