Contrary to popular belief, softer gloves mean bigger impacts. Punching someone with your bare fist sucks. It hurts, and your bones aren't designed for it. The increased padding means the aggressor feels less impact, but the softer padding doesn't do much to dampen the concussive force behind the blow, which is the part that fucks you up, not the hardness of the knuckle.

Right, which makes you wonder why someone with known hand issues like Mayweather would agree to this.

Because it's about money. The thing is going to do big bucks don't get me wrong, but all signs point to ticket sales and PPV not breaking any records as of yet. Floyd is a smart business man, he knows how to put on a show. He knows people think this thing is a joke, and Conor has no chance, and people don't want to put down a hundred bucks for another May-Pac fiasco.

He's trying to pique people's interest into buying the PPV. That's why he agreed to it. The same reason Floyd's been saying he's "lost a step." This is all lip service to generate interest.

I haven't been paying attention to the PPV or ticket sales. Are the numbers down? I just don't see how the possibility of Floyd breaking his hand on McGregors face in the first round makes for a more exciting fight.
