| Cobra1010 08/16/17 10:37:09 AM #5: | In chinese folklore, when theres solar eclipse, the gates of hell will open and the ghosts will be able to walk the earth for the duration of the eclipse. My mum is very superstitious so she doesnt like these eclipeses. But the term for solar eclipse is kinda cool in chinese. It litterally translates to "day eat" so if it were to make more sense in english, you could view it as "Day eater", you know, like how the moon blocking out the sun, like its consuming the sun. Then i find it funny when my mum believing solar eclipses being bad thing, on the other side of the world, some middle eastern countries have different believes and use this opportunity to jump in rivers to wash themselves lol. --- ...
