The problem with that idea is that we don't know how the technology actually works.

We don't need to know how the technology works. Heat exchange is the transfer of kinetic energy from one atom to another. We can see he's not interacting with matter on the atomic level. He's effectively separate from the known 3 dimensions. However, according to string theory the universe exists within 10 dimensions. This is important because gravity is theorized to exert a force across all 10.

Of course if the show were accurate he would have died from sudden hypotension the moment any part of his circulatory system became out of phase with his blood.
