Elsewhere they would consider them another side, not an extension of the same side. America is stuck in this "You're either with me or against me" idea. This is why there is so much leftist cognitive dissonance surrounding Islam--because the right is against it, so they feel the need to be in favor of it. Nazis are just the other flavor of that. The left is against them, so tribal politics kicks in and encourages the right side to be in favor of it, even if it's slightly so.
