It's an illness, some people have it worse than others. There's no reason to let yourself suffer/stay sick just because others might be even worse. You can just ask your doctor about it and they'll ask you some questions and determine if they think you are or not. You can refuse the medication and opt in to try therapy instead, that's what I did.
