People don't want to live with mommy until they're 30 and people don't want to be stuck in one place for 10+ years. When you rent you also aren't responsible for maintenance. Not to mention not having a mortgage payment.

a mortgage is almost always going to be more than rent, even of a comparable size, without factoring in maintenance.

Hmm... I guess I just always assumed that owning something was cheaper than just being loaned it. :u Houses must be more complicated.

Huh? Owning damn near anything is generally going to cost more than renting it (almost always in the long run, but very often even in the short run)
