Kingdom Hearts makes me think of this. In the first game, it felt like Sora was the chosen one for the keyblade. That having one was an incredibly special thing. Riku having an "evil" keyblade felt pretty cool, and seeing Mickey with one at the end of the game felt pretty mind-blowing.

But now, fucking everyone has a keyblade. You don't have to be chosen by it, or some shit like the first game. You just have to touch one, and just like that, you can use a keyblade.

At first, it felt like something only a select few could have. Now even Axel has a fucking keyblade.

The way I see it now is that Sora was chosen to wield the Kingdom Key specifically and not just any keyblade.
