As a gamer, I'm thankful for it, but it just seems like a very miserable career, especially if you work for a big publisher. Very long hours, constant deadlines, rushed development, and the possibility that your job may be gone when the project's all done has got to make a pretty high-stress environment.

I agree. Game development sounds like a nightmare. Unless you're getting six figures a year for each project. Even then, you would want to ration out your earnings as if you were earning 50k/year so that you could look for work the following year after the game was done and you got let go.
