I didn't take it as something that demonstrated my enjoyment of either character but I thought it was a great way of contrasting both characters - Daenerys' royal entitlement and ego vs. John's humble nature.

One thing I like about that is that Davos winds up expounding on everything Jon's done anyway - but not by way of introduction.

Yeah, not until it was actually necessary. It was an interesting scene and great contrast. The scene later where Jon says he doesn't like what he's good at is also great. It's a good contrast between Jon and, say, Daario. I can see why she'll find Jon more interesting than the other men she's encountered.
