Actually, the parts of the south that are in the worst shape are run directly by Democrats. Name a specific city known for high crime or poverty and go look at its mayor. You can probably find a few run by Republicans but most of them are run by Democrats.
And btw, an example of high crime cities in the SOUTH: Houston - Democrat mayor New Orleans - Democrat Atlanta - Democrat Nashville - Democrat Dallas - Democrat
So how come the valiant saviours of modern society can't do shit about it when they run everything on a federal level?

And why is my area one of the highest crime areas in Canada despite being a Conservative stronghold?
This isn't about Canada, every country is different.
And having a conservative leader at the Federal level doesn't mean it trickles down...every state and city is still run independently and operates on their own. Hence why marijuana is legal in some places but illegal federally. ---
