The Jungle Book remake only worked because the original had no plot anyway. The rest are the most celebrated films of all time and doing a shot for shot remake of movies we've already seen is not only a waste of time and money, but an insult to the audience's intelligence.

Yeah 2016's Jungle Book even had a good thematic element to it, which I found particularly inspired all things considered. It's interesting how fire and the jungle and man's influence on nature was portrayed in this movie, contrasting with how Rudyard Kipling portrayed those things over a century ago (back then, nature was something to be overcome by man, something that man wanted to best. But today nature is precious and precariously balanced, something fragile to be protected, as seen by the destruction of forests and habitat destruction and whatnot)
