Here's the problem: that would cost the restaurant money. AND the consumer.

A good server makes the restaurant a lot of money. And you're not getting a good server for minimum wage.

And companies wouldn't let that affect their bottom line too much. So if they're paying servers more guess what they do? Raise the food cost. That's what happened when's Minnesotta got rid of tippable wages and it would be even more ridiculous if tipping went away.

A restaurant needs servers to be well paid, because a server that gets paid well makes them a lot of money. And they don't want to pay it themselves. And costumers don't want expensive food. So we end up with tipping. Letting a percent of the costumers foot the bill for the other percent of the the costumers.

Except that you actually do end up with expensive food because you are still paying that cost anyway.
