At the very least he betrayed the republican party line and ruined their plans. I mean if you believe reddit, the ACA is saint-life and republicans are devil-like, and McCain is now a legend despite his dodgy voting record. None of the political string pulling or nuance in the bill is being recognised in that rhetoric. It's just "ACA is good because it's healthcare, republicans are evil because they want to repeal it". Overly simplistic but fun to think about.
